Investigation of using limestone calcined clay cement (LC3) in engineered cementitious composites: The effect of propylene fibers and the curing system

Limestone calcined clay cement (LC3) is a new type of low-carbon that can reduce energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions while meeting the performance requirements ordinary cement. In this study, polypropylene (PP) fibers were mixed into limestone cement-based materials to make ECCs. total 24 sets specimens designed for 4 groups curing ages 6 types mix ratios. The compressive load–displacement data measured curve characteristics analyzed then, constitutive model composites was deduced obtained. Through XRD, SEM-EDS MIP experiments, reasons laws strength ranges adding PP LC3 engineered cementitious (LC3-PP-ECCs) are further explained from perspective pore size, microstructures hydration products. results show that, after 28 days, values LC3-PP-ECCs generally decreases with increasing fiber content combined effect products causes LC3-ECCs 0.5% drop sharply. addition, showed better properties in terms toughness, ductility absorption. However, microstructures, addition will cause more internal defects flaws. This study provide some theoretical experience technical support engineering application LC3-ECCs.
